Resin, resin, resin!

So, after being submerged in the world of chunky bead necklaces for a little while, I began to see all these cute little creations floating around of stickers and glitter and rhinestones, and I started to ask myself - how hard can it be?! These seemed like the perfect options to liven up our necklaces by giving them the option of a little pendant, and so with a little research and fingers crossed - we jumped in feet first!

Now, resin isn't as easy as I thought it might be, but it's also not as hard. It's time consuming, that's for sure - and for someone who doesn't have the most time right now (thank you, last semester of college!), it kind of puts a tiny damper on the process. However... It's also so, so relaxing to be doing something in a different medium where you have to pay attention and tweak things as you go. And it's also pretty fun to find the cutest stickers and try to create little scenes within a small space - and, of course, there's glitter. Who doesn't love glitter?!

Anyhow. Our first resin pour (and the two I've done since) have been eye opening lessons on how to make things go even more smoothly. Luckily for me, I also found a great community of crafters who are willing to help out their fellow newbie crafter with some tips of the trade. Without further adieu, I give you the first batch of poured resins!

Stay tuned for more resins, October's first Rockin' Resin project, and our first round of diffuser clay necklaces later this week! Oh - and costumes, coming soon!

Have a great Sunday!

Premiere post & September's 2nd Rockin' Resin Design Team Project!

Hello everyone!

We've been meaning to get our blog up and running for what seems like forever, and while it still needs a few tweaks here and there, I think we're ready to go live! It's a pretty exciting step for us, as blogging is one of the biggest ways to reach many audiences and to network with other crafters and bloggers. And as if that weren't enough, I really do love sharing my personal affection for the pieces we create. I hope you'll enjoy it, as well.

Now, on to our second piece for the Rockin' Resin Design Team! It's a little belated, as this was our second September project.

I have to say, I really loved doing the Sweet Necklace from earlier in September and getting to try my hand at decoden - it was truly a great experience, and I send so many thanks to Megan for putting her trust in me! But our second project was just as exciting - jumbo pearls!

She also sent us some really gorgeous cameos, big flower beads and smaller multicolored beads. I accidentally misplaced the green flower when it came time to assemble our piece, but I plan to put that into another necklace later on. There wasn't a giant process to creating this one - basically just deciding what to put where and how to go about constructing the necklace.

It was so fun to play with, though! I've never actually gotten the chance to work with such beautifully large beads, and I learned a lot about it - mainly, I need stronger jump rings! The weight of the necklace is too much for the one that I used, but that's an easy fix.

In any case, here is our completed project - I might have to keep this one for myself. ;)
